Well, it would figure that I can't escape prayer even in my bible reading. :) God is good. i finished the old testament yesterday morning and last night I started reading where I had left off in the new. Lo and behold, with my recent conviction about my prayer life I read Luke 18 and the parable of the persistent widow. (v 1-8).
I can't count how many times I've heard questions regarding persistent prayer. Many people worry that if they keep going to God on the same issue day after day that it is an indicator of a lack of faith on their part that God hears their prayers. This parable is a biblical example that if we are burdened for something so much that we cannot stop praying about it, then this is okay! Great news!
Jesus tells us this story of a widow who kept coming to an unjust judge for justice on an adversary of hers. Finally the judge grants her request because he is tired of listening to her. Jesus told us this story because "men ought always to pray and not lose heart" (Luke 18:1). If an unjust judge answered the widow's requests, how much more does our righteous and loving God want to answer ours?
Are you losing heart because you feel your prayers aren't being answered? My friends, keep praying and pray that God will show you why he is either delaying His answer to you or why His answer is "no". Remember that God wants what is best for us and He is listening.
