REVELATION: God wants nothing out of us that all of us aren't able to give Him...if we want to.
Okay, it isn't really a new revelation, but in my reading today, God showed this principle to me again in Micah 5:8. I'll let Him show it to you too:
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Understanding that God wants something from us that all of us have is freeing but also takes away any excuses we may have for not serving Him. Once again, God provides us with a double-edged sword! To God...
Money doesn't matter.
Fame doesn't matter.
Intelligence doesn't matter.
Education doesn't matter.
A great career doesn't matter.
Possessions don't matter.
Position doesn't matter.
_____________________ (insert your excuse) doesn't matter!
Am I getting God's point across? God wants US, not our STUFF! We have no excuse to remain "powerless" but our own selves. I know, I hate to hear it too. Sometimes I think my excuses for partial obedience to God are good ones! :)
Today, I will ask myself and God how I can:
- Be more "just".
- Be more merciful.
- Be more humble, walking with God.
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (Psalm 51:16-17)
